The Musician

Terry’s life has been totally involved in playing & writing music since his early teens. The emerging rock scene was the initial inspiration which led him to want to play guitar & write songs.
He is a self-taught guitarist & also studied sitar under Imrat Khan & Alastair Dick whilst at Dartington college.

Becoming a qualified teacher meant he was able to combine his love & knowledge of music & shared it with hundreds of young people. After leading a school music department & several school bands, he taught guitar peripatetically & privately.

He has always been a guitarist who has enjoyed playing live in a number of bands, some of which he has formed himself to play his own songs – Chameleon, Jumpback, Terra Cotta, Cottam. He has often played alongside his son, Buster who is primarily a bassist but also composes, mixes, produces & engineers music.

He has joined bands to enjoy playing the music of others from 4 piece The Edgar Broughton Band to soul alongside 10 musicians in The Jess Upton Soul Band.

Terry has written compositions for dance in education which have been published by BBC & UK Dance organisations. He has also contributed to many TV commercials & promotional videos.

More recently, he’s been working on the completion of 2 more albums of his own songs with Dave Kenderdine on drums.
